This new venture from the guys who brought you Ocean Island Backpackers is a seriously good deal for groups (….) In this renovated heritage home in a quiet residential enclave a short walk from Inner Harbour, each suite has an individual international theme — request the Burma suite and you’ll also get a claw-foot bathtub — along with hardwood floors, full kitchens and free wireless access. There’s a shared laundry in the basement plus a large deck and quiet garden for summertime chilling.

Real people with empathy.
Excellent location, easy walking to restaurants, marina, old part of town, and easy parking. Bed was comfortable, and clean. Excellent and easy check in and out. Highly recommend it.
Manager really nice and quick on answers! Got a little gift too what a sweet attention.
A great stay that was planned last minute and they had availability. Quick and easy check in and a very home-y feel for your stay in Victoria. Nice and close to downtown a 10-15 minute walk. Cute backyard to let your dogs run around, although be careful because there is an opening where there is no fence on the right side of the house which leads to the road, so don’t let yoru pups wander to un-attentively. They even left a complimentary bottle of wine in the fridge which was a nice thing to do. Thanks Ocean Island Suites!
This place is really special - creatively designed in a beautiful historic house, walking distance to downtown, but also in a quiet neighborhood 5 minutes from beaches and a really big park. There’s a big sunny backyard to relax in, and the wifi was strong which I need for my work. Generally a perfect place - clean, quiet, good kitchen, and comfortable. It was the same price as a basic hotel room, but had a lot more. Next time I’m in town I’ll stay longer.
Nicely decorated and comfortable place in a great location. Having access to the backyard was amazing - it’s so beautiful and calm.
Beautiful quaint suite in a lovely neighbourhood. Loved the fenced dog yard and garden area. We enjoyed walked along Dallas road and had quick and easy access to downtown. Would definitely stay here again.
Location. Garden was lovely. Suite well equipped. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Excellent location, walking distance to just about all Victoria attractions! Quiet neighbourhood. Lots of room for a small family. Nice deck at the back for a coffee!
Nicely decorated and comfortable place in a great location. Having access to the backyard was amazing - it’s so beautiful and calm.
Good location. Nice kitchen.
Bed excellent, location fabulous, facilities good. We were happy with all aspects of our stay and would highly recommend friends to stay there, especially in suite #2 which we stayed in front of house with views to the street where we watched the daily trot by of the hose carriages, which we loved. All good, with no complaints.
Heritage home in a great neighbourhood. Easy walking distance to downtown and all the restaurants.
The location of this place is fantastic! It is pretty much walking distance to the harbour, parliament building and downtown of Victoria. The place was spacious and the kitchen had full utensils for cooking. The building is also extremely beautiful.
Great location! We stayed in suite 1 at the front of the house for three nights. The house was in a quiet neighbourhood, five minute walk to grocery store and nearby restaurants. Ten-fifteen minute walk to the harbour. Great location! Suite included private bathroom with combination shower-bath, fully equipped kitchen, tv, and wi-fi. Cute backyard that is available for use by all suites. Not a lot of parking available in the driveway but street parking available. Would definitely stay here again when travelling to Victoria!
The one-bedroom apartment was sparkling clean and charmingly decorated. It is very well-located, in a pretty residential neighborhood, only a short walk from the center of town, and also a short walk from the ocean. A delight!
Great flat, super cosy and clean (and lovely garden at the back)! The location is very quiet but only a 10 min. Walk from the center and all its excitement! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Victoria.
It was a wonderful experience with Ocean Island Suites. Their rooms are clean and tidy, what’s more, I really like the kitchen in my apartment because of the all-ready awesome tablewares! They provide us a plenty of bowls, plates, foks, and etc. so that whenever we (we are living in 3) wanna make a meal ourselves we can do it. All in all, it is a great place to live!
We booked the Provence suite for out-of-town guests and they loved it! I liked that it’s run by people who also run a small hotel downtown, everything was really organized and well set up. The location was great for discovering the city, quiet neighbourhood, blocks to both downtown and the ocean, and being so close to the park and petting zoo was really convenient with children. The suite was comfortably set up a with a complete kitchen and everything was super clean. The backyard was lovely, great for hanging out in. We didn’t notice any strange odour. Great place, would definitely recommend this cozy suite.
As someone who has outgrown the hostel scene, but hasn’t grown into the cost of a hotel scene, this was absolutely perfect. My friend and I rented a suite for 4 nights, and were completely comfortable, safe and happy. Check-in was easy (you have to go to Ocean Island Backpackers on Pandora street, but they paid for us to take a cab to the suites.) We were in the Burma room, which is beautifully decorated. Everything was as advertised; the kitchen was totally usable, the bathtub was lovely and deep, and there is a small porch at large back yard. The location is lovely and quiet, and it’s a easy walk to parks or downtown. They provide a great info sheet outlining where to find all the necessities (grocery stores, liquor stores, restaurants), and everything is within easy walking distance. As this was a “girls trip”, my friend didn’t have her kids with her, and I didn’t have my dog, but we both agreed had we brought the whole family, we would be perfectly happy in that location. The small downsides (and they’re seriously small) was a lack of air circulation (only one window in our suite opened,) and a sticky door and lock (but considering how old and quaint the building is, this is sort of par for the course.) Depending on your neighbours, it might be a little noisy (like most old buildings, the walls don’t provide much of a buffer), but this isn’t something we had a problem with as everyone staying there was quiet and respect
My room was everything one would need for a week, a month, or longer! A fully equipped kitchen and bathroom/shower en suite – nothing was missing.
It overlooks two of the oldest houses in Victoria, and a massive monkey-puzzle tree . . as well as being a quiet establishment, the staff are friendly and helpful beyond. Being without a computer would have been impossible, but, the proprietors, being themselves from the ‘rest of the world’, the rooms are all cable and wireless!!
[…] this is the place to stay when visiting Victoria! My visiting daughter/husband and granddaughter stayed for several days, and they too loved the place.
Booked this place for out-of-town visitors. Was a great location for them- close to everything they needed, including the beach and shops. We all really enjoyed the garden in the back. The house was charming- heritage and nicely renovated.
Thank you for your hospitality. The suite was just lovely–so clean and private and beautifully appointed. What a comfortable bed and delightful space to be… We’ll come back.
My family came to visit me from Australia – mum and dad, sister and brother. We stayed in two rooms – Suites 2 & 3 which are at the back of the house. We all had an excellent stay, were thrilled with the location especially considering the low cost of accommodation — totally worth it, totally recommend! Room Tip: Pick the Suites at the back of the house.
I just wanted to write and say how much we enjoyed our stay at the Suites on September 23rd. The space is gorgeous, so clean, and has everything we needed. I loved that there was a hair dryer! The only down side was that we were only staying one night. We have already been recommending you to any of our friends going over to Victoria and will definitely be back ourselves.
I cannot recommend it highly enough if you’re going to be in Victoria. We rented one of three apartments in a large, old house. The neighborhood was adorably residential, but within easy walking distance of downtown Victoria. And because the place is run by a local hostel, the nightly rate was adorably reasonable. Also? The backyard comes with a hammock. The apartment had a fully-equipped kitchen, so we picked up some fresh veggies at the local farmers’ market and had a lovely dinner at “home” our second night in Victoria.
